Learning - workshops, courses, talks

Astorcropped

This is the Astor, off Albany in January 2015. We gave a few talks on that ship as part of a genealogy conference held at sea, organised by Unlock the Past, an Adelaide based organisation. We have lectured on a number of cruise ships, including one that sailed around the British Isles in 2014. But you don't need to go to sea to see/hear us...

Workshops

We have a few standard workhops that we run regularly, and we can tailor one specifically for you. Workshops are usually one-to-one at a time to suit you, held at our Palmyra premises. We can organise one at your home for an additional fee. Call us for details.

Regular workshops include:

Getting started: genealogy basics
Finding ancestors on free and paid sites
Using specific paid sites (e.g. ancestry.com)
Using Reunion (Mac family history program)
DNA basics

Courses

We regularly run courses for groups at community centres, genealogical societies and universities.

Recent courses have included:

Finding your UK ancestors on the internet
Finding your Australasian ancestors on the internet
Tracing your past (6-week skills-building program)
DNA and genealogy

Talks for groups

There are too many talks to list here...we talk frequently to groups on a wide variety of genealogical and historical subjects. These can range from topics of general interest to quite advanced techniques in genealogy.

You can download a brochure about some of our talks here.
